VI of Wands
Ink & Embroidery on Paper 2020
5.5″ x 8.25″
This is the card of Victory, of goals met and accomplishments recognized. The woman has carried a sick generation of children out of an apocalyptic world of pandemic, hate and discrimination into a world of health and revolution. The children in hospital gowns appreciate the woman. The woman represents our efforts to improve and heal our environment for future generations. Her tattoos map landmarks along her journey, including “1312,” “BLM,” “Ohlone Land,” “No Borders” and the fight against coronavirus. The horse represents the woman’s strength. Each of the six children carry a wand, a baton to pass on to the following generation. The baton is both a gift and a responsibility.
